From the Desk of Shanon Davis, CEO — American Alternative Assets
You know, I was sitting here this morning with my coffee, reading the CPI report — you know, the government’s inflation numbers — and I had to set the cup down. Not because the number was bad. It came in at 2.4%. That’s actually what they expected. But here’s the thing that got me: every single economist I read this morning is calling it “the calm before the storm.”
And they’re right.
Look, I’m not going to sugarcoat this for you. The S&P 500 is down over 28% this year. Twenty-eight percent. If you had a million dollars in a standard market portfolio in January, you’re looking at roughly $720,000 today. In three months. That’s not a dip. That’s not a correction. That’s a gut punch.
And it’s about to get worse. Oil just hit $120 a barrel because the Strait of Hormuz — which handles about a fifth of the world’s oil — is basically shut down. An oil tanker exploded near Abu Dhabi this week. The Energy Secretary posted on social media that the Navy had escorted a tanker through — turned out that wasn’t even true. They had to delete the post.
Here’s what regular Americans need to understand: the February inflation data doesn’t include any of this oil shock yet. March is going to be ugly. Your gas bill, your grocery bill, your heating bill — all going up. While your retirement account goes down.
Now, I’m not telling you what to do with your money. It’s not that hard to understand what’s happening, though. Central banks around the world have been buying gold at record pace for years. Gold’s sitting at over $5,192 an ounce right now. They saw these signals coming — the same bellwether signals that have preceded every major economic disruption in modern history.
The question is: did anybody tell you about them? Because most people’s financial advisors — excuse me, most people’s financial specialists — didn’t say a word.
We put together a guide called The Bellwether Signal that lays it all out — what the smart money saw, what the central banks did, and what options you still have. It’s free. No strings. Just education.
