You know, I was sitting at my desk yesterday morning with my coffee, scanning the headlines like I always do, and I watched the Dow drop 1,250 points in what felt like the blink of an eye. My phone started ringing off the hook. People panicking. People who thought they were “diversified” suddenly realizing they weren’t.
Here’s the thing — yesterday wasn’t some freak event. It was three crises stacking on top of each other at the same time. We’ve got a real shooting war in the Middle East. Iran is threatening to close the Strait of Hormuz, which is where about 20% of the world’s oil passes through. Oil prices are surging. And then, just to make things interesting, Treasury Secretary Bessent drops the news that a 15% global tariff could take effect this week.
Now, I talk to regular Americans every single day. Good people who worked hard, saved their money, did everything they were told. And most of them have no idea how exposed they actually are. The whole point of bonds was to go up when stocks go down. That deal is broken.
Meanwhile, you know what was up? Gold. Quietly up more than 25% since early 2025. Central banks around the world are still loading up on it. It’s not complicated — when everything else is falling apart, gold tends to do its job. It’s been doing that for about 5,000 years now.
