Australia 1/2 oz WWII Silver Coin (Year Varies)

The War in the Pacific during World War II was a devastating campaign of island-hopping by both the Imperial Japanese Navy early in the war, and then by the United States Navy. From 1941 to 1945, the United States and Australia fought together against the Japanese in a successful campaign to roll back the gains of the Empire of the Rising Sun.

Each of the 1/2 oz Silver US Australian World War II commemorative coins issued here today is available in brilliant uncirculated condition from the Perth Mint. The coins were originally shipped housed in individual protective plastic, mint tubes of 25 coins, or sealed inside of boxes that include a total of 500 coins housed within 20 tubes of 25 coins each.

The Silver US Australian World War II Coins are part of a larger series of coins that are available in both gold and silver. Unlike many coin programs, this series actually features fractional-weight silver coins, such as this 1/2 oz Silver US Australian WW II Coin, as well as various fractional weights in the gold range of coins as well.

The United States was not alone in its efforts to fight Imperial Japan in the Pacific. Together with Australia, the combined forces of the Allies fought hard to push back the red tide of Japan, protect the Australian mainland, and secure shipping lanes throughout the Pacific Ocean as the American military pushed westward from Hawaii toward its eventual destination: mainland Japan.

On the reverse of the 1/2 oz Silver US Australian WWII Coins is the enduring symbol of that Australian-American cooperation. The Majestic Eagle featured here is an imposing creature with its wings up high. On either side of it are the flags of the two nations, with Australia’s famed cluster of stars on the left and the Stars and Stripes of the US on the right.

The obverse of the Silver US Australian WWII Coins features the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty’s right-profile portrait here is the fourth-generation image of the Queen to appear during her long reign as the Queen of England. This design was created by Ian Rank-Broadley of Britain’s Royal Mint back in 1998.
